Teaching at the pre-primary level plays play-based learning- teaching is promoted, activity-oriented (through Montessori), theme theme-based learning is designed for kids. More emphasis and stress are given to the teaching of phonics and reading.

SSN completes the cycle of FLN (Foundational-Literacy-Numeracy) by encouraging students to talk clearly, confidently, and with expressions in order to communicate ideas and feelings. Similarly, it is important the need to listen to others and respond appropriately. All students are provided with opportunities in all areas of the curriculum to develop skills in speaking and listening.

Assessment

Assessment Policy for Classes: Play Group to Prep

The academic year is divided into two term,s and each term has two assessment reports, totalling 4 Summative Assessments. Each assessment report is based on the continuous evaluation based on class activities, worksheets, and assignments on a day-to-day basis. Theย  HPC report card will only reflect the colours.

Assessment Policy for Classes I & II

The academic year is divided into two terms, and each term has two assessment reports, totalling 4 Summative Assessments. The students will be assessed on the basis of day-to-day performances and regular classroom observations. The assessments would comprise worksheets, assignments, recitation, reading, group discussions, dictations, project works, quizzes,ย  Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), interactions, Short Answer Questions (SAQs), field projects, etc.

Subjects Offered in Primary:

The school is so structured that the Primary Section (classes I-V) evolves into the Upper Primary Section (classes VI-VIII), which in turn matures into the Secondary and Senior Section (classes IX-XII).

Methodology

The curriculum encourages students to develop an understanding of key concepts. In the curriculum, at this level, concepts are represented by different examples that share common attributes. In this way, a sound base is built to equip them with the appropriate attitude and skills.

The teaching is project-based, hands-on on activity-oriented oriented and content-centric. Theme teaching is in practice to promote cross-curriculum understanding.

The school offers a wide range of academic choices: Humanities, Science subjects in XI & XII.

Montessori Programme (Pre-Primary: Ages 3โ€“6)

Philosophy & Environment: Child-centered, hands-on learning in a prepared environment; mixed-age classrooms (3โ€“6 years).

Materials & Methods: Self-correcting Montessori materials; freedom of choice within structured limits; emphasis on independence, concentration, and intrinsic motivation.

Abacus Training (Grades 1โ€“8)

Objective: Develop mental calculation skills, improve concentration, and build numerical confidence.

Structure: Weekly 45-minute sessions; progression from concrete abacus manipulation to mental visualisation techniques.

Outcome: Fluent speed and accuracy in arithmetic operations, enhanced memory, and logic development.

Robotics Lab (Grades 1โ€“10)

  • Aim: Cultivate STEM mindsets, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork through hands-on robotics projects.

    • Grades 1โ€“4: Basic mechanisms, simple machines, block-based coding (e.g., Scratch).

Saturday Art Enrichment (All Grades)

Format: 90-minute workshops every Saturday; rotating modules each term to expose students to diverse mediums.

Benefits: Encourages creativity, self-expression, cultural appreciation, and fine motor skills.
